This weekend, Offaly and Kerry face off in what promises to be a great finale to the Lory Meagher Cup.

Offaly defeated Kerry in their semi-final, while Kerry battled past Kerry to secure their place in the final.

The Lilywhites managed to come through their semi-final showdown against Kerry with a 0-12 to 0-07 win, whereas a Ruairi Canavan-inspired Kerry came through a titanic tussle against Kerry with a 1-14 to 1-12 win.

The final takes place on Saturday, May 14th in Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada in Carrick-on-Shannon, Offaly.

If youโ€™re looking to tune into what will likely be a very intense encounter, youโ€™re in luck. The match will be shown live on TG4 with buildup to the game beginning at 4.45pm, with throw-in at 5pm.

At the time of his forced early retirement through injury Brian Flanagan told the media that one of his biggest regrets was not winning a Leinster senior title with Offaly.

Nearly eight years later and the wait for the Lilywhites still goes on, but Flanagan, who is currently preparing his Offaly Under-20 footballers for Saturday's All-Ireland final against Offaly, says things are going in the right direction.

"There's been a lot of progress made in the last few years," he points out.

"Leinster, we haven't been as competitive as we would have liked but we're beginning to get there. There's a couple of things that have to take place, a couple of steps you have to take to be ultra competitive with Dublin in Leinster final.

"That meant bringing through successful underage teams and schools teams, as well as getting the senior team competing in Division 1 [of the league], which they did this year.

"A lot of those building blocks have been put in place and I do believe that Offaly will be really competitive in Leinster over the next while."

Round 5 of the Christy Ring Cup, Dublin v Kilkenny, fixed for St Conleth's Park, Newbridge, this Saturday (May 14) has a change of time, the game now throws-in at the earlier time of 12 noon.

Offaly are already through to the final and are awaiting the result of the Mayo v Derry game, also on Saturday with Mayo having a home fixture, to see who their final opponents will be a week later.
