Algajola is a five minute drive away and is Stéphane’s family village, so we will probably sound quite biased when talking about this idyllic, unspoilt village. The coastal micheline train runs through Algajola on a shuttle route that stops at every beach between Calvi and Ile Rousse. Take it once; it will enchant children of all ages! On Algajola’s 2 mile long beach which is world renowned amongst windsurfers, you can spend a day sunbathing and swimming in the crystal clear water, punctuated with visits to the sandy terrace of a beach bar, followed by a pizza and a glass of rosé at Le Chariot.
Le Chariot is a bar, café and restaurant sitting at the heart of this little village. Its parasols cover the central square, making it a great place for eating or just to sit with a beer and watch the world go by. There are numerous other little restaurants in Algajola for you to try, making this a very convenient spot for a night out. It’s a quiet little village, perfect for families, however if you are after a more lively atmosphere, try Calvi or Ile Rousse.
Calvi is a delightful bustling port boasting an array of cafes and restaurants along the harbour front. It has a lively and glamorous atmosphere at night, and is renowned for being the perfect spot to enjoy an impressive ice cream coupe along the harbour front.

From Calvi you can enjoy a boat trip to visit the protected nature reserve of Scandola and the beautiful secluded harbour of Girolata. Calvi also boasts a superb collection of shops and boutiques within its intimate cobbled streets.

As you enter Ile Rousse you will find a large air conditioned supermarket, Super U, with excellent fresh produce, fruit, vegetables, fish and meat, a lot of which locally produced.
Ile Rousse also has a traditional outdoor market on the central square, selling fresh fish and many regional specialities.
This is a pretty, bustling town with its own beautiful sandy beach. Treat the children to the quaint train ride that runs around the town taking tourists up the Ile Rousse – the red rock that gives the town its name.
